Hawkesbury River Saddle Co.

Hawkesbury River Saddle Co was founded in 2004 by Heath & Krissy Harris.  Although deeply saddened by the loss of Heath,  the saddlery  will continue to operate from the warehouse and workshop at Mount White and will in the future be relocating to our new retail shop located at: Stonewall Equestrian, 1992 Wisemans Ferry Road, Mangrove Mountain.

HEATH  HARRIS  22/9/1946 – 2/4/2022

As a young man Heath Harris was apprenticed to Australia’s finest craftsmen before travelling to the outback, breaking horses in the bush and, of course, working in film and television, leading him to become an internationally recognised movie horse trainer.

Over the years Heath competed in scores of horse sports riding in many styles of saddles.  As an Australian Saddle Maker with first-hand experience he was able to make improvements, modifications and changes to traditional designs.

Heath designed the Saddle Trees as well as the saddles, his saddle trees take the best from the semi quarter horse and full quarter horse bars to create a versatile tree to fit 95% of all horses, with the most important part of the saddle tree design is the angle of the tree bars and the roll back of the tree bar at the point of the shoulder.

Heath and wife, Krissy, created Hawkesbury River Saddle Company initially as Australian fender saddle makers specialising in fender stock saddles with the range now extending to dressage and jumping saddles.

Hawkesbury River Saddle Co prices are reasonable, because of the system we use.  Heath designed and we tested the prototypes in Australia. Generally making five or six design changes before being  completely happy with the finished product.  We then source the best materials and saddlers from around the world to go into our hand-crafted saddles.

We sell our saddles online  or customers come directly to our warehouse in Mt White NSW (soon to be Mangrove Mountain NSW). Our marketing strategy is ‘straight from warehouse to the public and people seem to like that idea.
